Creating Data Alerts

Creating Data Alerts

Data Alerts are triggered by conditions you define for your widgets. For example, if you have an Indicator widget that represents your company’s revenue, you can define an alert that notifies you when this revenue reaches or falls below a certain threshold. For each type of widget you can add to Pulse, you can monitor a single value. For example, for Column charts you can monitor a single section (value) of a column. To monitor multiple values, you can add each value you want to monitor to Pulse separately.

Creating Data Alerts

For an Indicator widget, from the widget’s menu, select Add To Pulse.

For other types of widgets, right-click any value in the chart and select Add To Pulse.

Once you select Add to Pulse, a window is displayed:

From this window, create the name you would like to assign and the Alert Condition
  1. * In the Name field, enter a meaningful name that represents your alert. For example, Tasting Room Daily Revenue.
  2. * In the Alert Condition area, select the condition that triggers the alerts. There are three types of conditions: Threshold, Automatic and Always.

    Threshold
: Dash notifies you when a threshold is reached. This condition is useful for monitoring metrics that follow a regular, cyclical schedule. When choosing Threshold, simply identify the conditions you would like notification to be made on.

AutomaticDash automatically notifies you when the Alert engine identifies an anomaly in your data.
  3. Always: Dash notifies you after each build (daily) regardless if there's a change in your data or not.
Click Add to create the desired Alert. After you create an Alert, the Alert is added to your Pulse page where you can manage the Alert and its notifications.

Advanced Settings

By default, when an Alert is triggered, you are notified via your registered email address.

You can also modify Alerts using more advanced configurations that let you receive notifications across multiple channels and customize the message displayed in the notification. Click on the button in the upper right corner to customize the message and notification channel desired.

For Threshold and Automatic Alerts, you may also choose to be notified when a condition is met OR not longer met by selecting Additional Options on the bottom of the pop up box.
